The Best windshield cleaner?

I've had problems with a streaky/hazy windshield that I attributed to bad wipers, until I took someone's advice and tried rubbing alcohol to remove Rainx/wax/road tar/miscellaneous greasy gunk. Now I've noticed that the windshield is less streaky and hazy, and the wipers seem to wipe the surface streak-free on the first pass. The problem is that it's not completely clean. And I don't want to spend my time and effort using multiple applications of rubbing alcohol when there might be a better solution. So, what else could I use that does a better job? Please don't say Bonami, it's not made to clean glass and actually scratches it.

  1. 50/50 mix of water and vinegar, or blue washer fluid and vinegar
  2. Try windex and wipe it off with newspapers.
  3. just plain vinegar
  4. Glass wax or rainx,I use straight window cleaner, you have to clean your wiper blades once and awhile, put rag in your hand spray windex on rag and run it up and down wiper blades. they will last longer also. Most wipers are good for 1 year at the most
  5. Get a bottle of rubbing compound (you can get it at Wal-Mart) that is made for paint. It contains very very small abrasives that will eat the dirt of your windshield without scratching glass. I have done this several times to my truck and it works very well. Be careful, though. If you can feel the abrasive particles in the compound, it is too much. The stuff I use is made by 3M and is called 'Rubbing Compound.' Try it out, is works great. Leaves no scratches at all.
