Can I install Quickbooks on an external hard drive and be able to use it on multiple computers?

I need to be able to work on the same account at my home computer and on my office computer depending on where I am. I don't want to install the program on 2 different computers because this would be a pain to have to sync up every day, so is there any reason why i can't install the program, as well as the job files on an external hard drive and use it on either computer?

  1. Sorry but I don't think anyone here can answer that question. If you really want to find an answer for your question which I assume you do I will recommend www.google.com only problem is that it might take a bit of searching. Also try www.youtube.com because chances are there is a video that will answer your question Good luck :)
  2. No. This won't work. When you install QuickBooks, it makes changes to your Window registry. If you then try to use the hard drive on a different pc, the required registry entries won't be found and the program won't run. Some people have had some success with having their data file on a portable drive, but there are limitations with this as well.
