What are some driving tips for multiple ladders on car roof?
Hi - We have a Ford Taurus 99 sedan and our son is using car for summer job washing windows. He will be tying two to three ladders on roof racks and going from job to job. Mostly neighbourhood, some major thoroughfares. There will be lots of manoeuvering in driveways and parking lots. What are some things he should think about? Sometimes he will have guys with him who can help direct, other times he'll be alone. Thank you for any pointers!

- dont put too much weight on the roof. Newer cars use thinner steel to keep the weight down. Dont crack the windows.
- 1. Check the capacity of the roof rack. Don't forget that sharp turns add to the forces on the roof. 2. Secure extension ladders to the front and back of the car as well as to the rack. 3. If any of the ladders project more than 4 feet beyond the back of the car, a red flag tied to the end is required for daylight driving, and a red light is required at night. 4. Tell him to drive defensively. This applies to whether he has the ladders on the car or not. Hope this helps.
