How do I find a nanny job in a small town?

Parents, how do you find a quality babysitter or nanny? I will be going to college, and I don't know anyone in the new town, so I don't know if word of mouth alone would work. I have lots of experience, and provide great care. Online services normally only list jobs in big cities. Help?

  1. ADVERTISE in the newspaper...or put up flyers in the supermarket.
  2. newspaper, they always look for them in newspaper.
  3. Put a free ad up in the supermarket. Surprising how many people read them. Get references ready too
  4. Try to ask the local businesses if there is any newspapers or classifieds in the town, where you advertise or find out if is such a service. Also maybe Daycare services? Ask the college if they have such services for parents, some do, most dont. lastly, ask friends and family...
  5. you could maybe make flyers and ask some daycares to hand them out... they may or may not. If not then you can stand at a toy store or family oriented store and hand them out... just my idea...
  6. Advertise in the newspaper. People always look there if they need something.
  7. put your serviceson the college job board. Contact your city offices and see if ther eis a job hotline you could check for listings for nannies and babysitting
  8. Usually colleges have online job advertisment stuff. You should advertise on there, or look and see if someone has posted an opening. I found my nanny job on the College of the Redwoods website..
  9. you could try gonannies.com, 4sitters.com, greataupair.com, they are bound to have someone for you, good luck!
  10. I suggest that you place an ad in your local newspaper and/or send your resume to a local nanny service.
  11. Put up flyers. Or go to doors and give the people the flyers. . .Nevermind. Don't do that it's not safe.
  12. GO TO DAY CARE PLACES AND HANG OUT FLYERS ABOUT YOUR BABYSITTING
  13. Consider taking a job (short-term) in a place where moms might drop their kids. Like Mom's Morning Out or a gym kid's center. I did that and had more people asking me to work for them than I could handle! I also got alot of great babysitters there since I knew they had all been background checked and I had seen them interact with my own kids. Good luck!
  14. It's going to be hard because you don't even know the town. Once you make few friends at college, then you could talk to the friends about a nanny job or just babysitting. Then you will have reference about your personality (I don't know if you have any to show your work) good luck
  15. Post flyers and have interveiws at your house
  16. Contact the college placement office. Also contact the local church. Sometimes people feel more comfortable looking for nannies through institiutions they know. Free ads in the supermarket or looking through the newspaper would also be good but make sure you take precautions when you meet prospective employers. Ask the families you've babysat for in the past to write letters of recommendation for you. Put together a resume that shows any appropriate courses you've taken as well. What level of care are you prepared to provide? Friday night babysitting or Monday to Friday, 9 to 6 nanny services? Live in or live out? Looking for payment /room and board/ or a combination of both? Caring for children or perhaps a senior who needs a companion? Good luck
  17. pit an as in the local paper of store remember to add references upon request
  18. Definitely advertise in the newspaper. Put up flyers in area restaurants, at the gym, in office buildings. Possibly talking to professors and counselors at your school would help as well even though they don't know you yet. Most of them are "safe" adults to speak to and - who knows? - maybe one of them is in need of a sitter... :)
  19. Is the small town large enough to have a Better Business Bureau? Call them and get recommendations. Look for a website for the town and if there's a PR office listed, call it. I like the recommendations for using the bulletin boards at grocery stores. It's usually worked for me when I need to find a nanny. Does the college have an employment office for students? This office should be able to help you.
  20. go to www.tripod.com and you can build a website offering services (you can promote the website for free on certain search engines.) also, try a newspaper ad or flyers.
  21. put it in the news paper. but do u really want to be a nanny its a lot of work think about it
  22. Put an ad in the paper of the town you wish to work in. Good luck!!
