What is the best way to drive from northern california to colorado?

I'd like to drive to Colorado from northern Ca. Last time I took I50 and it was the most boring drive and kinda creepy with little or no stops for most of it. Im looking for others experiences in driving this route in the Winter. IDK if it's snowing out there yet but I'd like a place with stops and pretty decent on the wheels.

1. I drove from Corvallis, OR one time to Denver and followed the same route you would need to go, in my opinion. I did I-80 and I-70 and it was pretty nice. Almost entirely interstate so the traveling is smooth, decent places to stop, hotels if you need them, no creeps. All around decent trip. Good luck and drive safely.
