Questions about Curriculum Vitae? CV?

Hi everyone! I have questions about a CV. I want to be a professional clarinet musician and I am 16 and writing my CV. Should I include every music achievement I have had in the past, e.g. from 2001 or start later on? I have another logic hobby I started from 4. I gained many awards from that till about 2008. Should I list them too? Also, can anyone give me good vocabulary to use in the covering letter? thnx Happy Gramps. Don't be so stupid! I have been moved up to grades because I am clever! *two

  1. The purpose of a resume is to be a "paper" introduction of your self to a potential employer..............since you have no work experience, you will not have ( or need ) a resume - plain & simple
  2. Hi, Since you are likely to be applying to people or organisations that are aware of the progression of academic music achievements then you could probably skip the early grades from your CV and put in something along the lines of 'All grades achieved, leading to.....' or 'Consistently high grades in all practical and theory from x date to x date including (Here put in those that were the best maybe.) In your personal profile you could bullet point any non academic achievements such as lead soloist for a production or whatever. Pick and choose those that highlight your best skills and talents and tailor each CV to fit in with the role you are applying for. It's a little extra work but pays dividends eventually as employers will be more likely to give you a chance that way. Covering letter: Dear Sir/Madam, (Or Mr, Mrs, Miss Name if you know to whom you are applying) Please find attached my CV in application for a post/role/place within your (organisation/orchestra/company.) As a committed and enthusiastic musician I would welcome the opportunity to bring my skills and talents to the role and benefit from the knowledge and experience within such a well respected group in order to develop further. Next put in an example of an achievement that shows how well you've done, or highlights a talent they might be interested in. Something along the lines of: During my time with.......I learned/played/gained..........or Whilst undertaking (a task, examination etc) I (again insert a good example)....This demonstrates mycommitmentt/willingness to learn/adaptability/talents. Thank you for your time and consideration. I am available for audition/interview/meeting at your convenience, please do not hesitate to contact me at any time. Yours Sincerely, Obviously you'd also need to adapt the covering letter to suit the position and your own personality. Good luck and every success.
