Best way to travel from California to Colorado?

I want to visit my long distance girlfriend and she lives in Colorado. I want something that'll be cheap and less time consuming. I've already looked at the train and the greyhound bus. the train is around $400 and the bus like $360 but the bus seems really uncomfortable. And they both take about the same time to get there. I've didn't bother looking at plane ticket prices because I thought they'd be to expensive. can you tell me which is best or leave any other suggestions on how to get there?

1. plane is a better idea tho because its so fast. i would suggest that u buy a ticket a few months in advance to get the best deal.
2. I'd suggest the train. It's much more comfortable than riding on a bus. Plus, you can move around more, go to the dining car or the observation car. As a bonus, the view going through the Rockys is quite nice. This trip is probably worth making at least once just for this reason alone. Also, they have power outlets everywhere on the train, so you can keep your mobile devices charged up, but they don't have Wi-Fi on most trains. Do expect delays though. Amtrak doesn't own the track they travel on, and sometimes has to wait on freighters and things like track maintenance. Keep an eye on their website for info on potential delays.
