Why are there so many unemployed people in certain areas but some places are hiring like crazy?
I live in New York and you can't find a job anywhere. Well my dad moved from Maine to Midland, Texas (Hometown of President Bush) and I came to visit him and theres not a single bussiness or oil company without a sign outside for training and hiring. I've been here a month and "I've wonder why dont people do what my dad did, move to where the jobs are? Ps he makes far more money in texas than he did in the north

- Most of the jobs being advertised in Texas and North Dakota are not very healthy jobs and rather jobs that shorten your lifespan on earth. But the way things are going in this country, that may not be a bad thing.
- Walrus says some people don't know any other way of living than where they are from, it hard moving to new area.
- Different strokes for different folks. Moving to another state is not an easy thing to do for some people who have family near by, etc. do you expect them to leave all their family and friends just like that?
- because they have a gov. perry not like calif. got a ass holl
- GEOGRAPHY production is going on, but on the other side of the border. Central tranportation jobs are moving to states close to where production is occuring on the other side of the border to reduce costs of transporting product.
- Because Texas state makes it easy for companies to do business and grow, unlike libbie Liberal states that tax the hell out of everyone And yes it is easy, Lois, to pick up and move for the right opportunity.
- Most patriots are moving to Texas, if socialists win again in 2012, Texas will probably secede.
- You answered your own question when you mentioned President Bush. Like other presidents, his home state prospered during his time in office. Bill Clinton was good for Arkansas, Ronald Reagan was good for California, and Jimmy Carter was good for Georgia. Bush was good for Texas. That's reality.
- That's a good question Sean. The economy of any particular region is usually shaped by the political landscape. Typically, New Yorkers(and any cities in the North East for that matter) vote into office people with no real plans. They promise publicly funded programs and entitlements to buy votes. Once their government budgets are strapped for cash, they raise taxes(instead of cutting programs). This creates a huge burden for business owners bottom lines and individuals paychecks. People begin to move to places that have more jobs which usually coincides with less government and lower tax rates. While there are still other factors at play, this is the main reason.
