Does the airforce have a job where I could do both search and rescue and aviation maintenance? ?

- be a flight engineer in a SAR squadron at Pilsner Man> with specitation like that, US military will require separate technicians for M8 and M10 bolts, one day. our (non-US) flight engineers don't do maitenance, either, yet they all were ground maintenance stuff in their careers and still participate in preflight preparations and they DO the routine field maintenance. pretty much like technically, I as a gunny in a Hind, i was supposed to know how to reload the craft.
- If you are referring to the USAF the answer is no.
- In spite of what you see in the TV commercials, the Air Force does not do search and rescue and very few aircraft mechanics actually fly with their airplanes any more.
- Our HH-60 Flight engineers at Moody AFB do not do maintenance. The venerable aircraft maintainers do the maintenance. Flight engineers will hardly change a light bulb anymore. We don't allow zipper suits to use tools, as they could hurt themselves or others.
