Jobs Simply

Am I the only military veteran to have gone thru this?

Just curious if any of you veterans have had an isolating college experience after getting out of the military. I am not married, no g/f, etc and have noticed that all of the other vets at school are married. I do live in a military town so perhaps that has something to do with that. I go to one of the satellite campuses of the university of CO, and while my profs have been excellent, it seems that most of the students here are actually from the city that I live in so it makes it hard to meet new people when most of the students here simply hang out with their high school buds. Not only that, but the VA is no longer paying break pay between semesters. Also, there are ZERO civilian jobs available in the town that I currently live in! I have even checked McDs here and even they are not hiring. I have noticed that the University of Oklahoma has the yellow ribbon program which pays for out of state tuition. Also, I checked local jobs listings in Oklahoma city and there are plenty of civilian"summer jobs" availiable there. So, if my credits will transfer to OU do you think that it would be in my best interest to transfer? I am currently a junior and am wondering if it is even worth the trouble at this point?

  1. Yup, I have been through the same thing. Don't feel too bad. I don't see why you would have to transfer, it would end up costing more in the long run as far as moving expenses go. Pick up small student loans and save them, to pay for down time in school. That's what I've always done.
  2. you live in colo springs or pueblo?
