Cheapest way to ship a dog from California to Colorado?
So my friend's dog is having puppies and they will be ready to go when I come back to California this summer (I just moved to Colorado from California). I'm fl ying back for a few weeks and then I want to take this puppy home with me. What is the cheapest way to take the puppy with me? Should I take her on the plane or in cargo or ship her seperately if that's possible? Thanks!

- take it home with you by a ship or car
- take a look at this http://www.pawsnclaws.org/
- i would never take a dog on a plane - it is almost torture for them! drive and take it home with you. (Rent a car for the return!)
- Check for information on the airline websites. Generally, you will have to provide a pet carrier that will fit under your seat. It will have to have a water container and a spongy bottom to absorb any accidents. It will have to be big enough for the puppy to turn around in. My family took 3 little dogs from Reno, Nevada to Kalispell, Montana and had no problems.
- It is better to take the dog on the same flight if you can. If the pup is small enough it can go under the seat in front of you, otherwise it will go in cargo. Call the airline to find out- they only allow a certain number of dogs in the cabin, so you need to book in advance. I have flown dogs all over North America and Europe. It is NOT torture for them. That is a crock.
