What is the best way to job search-hitting the pavement or applying for jobs in the paper and online?
What is more effective at landing an interview? Applying online for jobs or going to every business in your town or a town near you and dropping off resumes? I usually look in the paper and apply for jobs there and most of them give the option to email a resume or apply online on their website. I also look on Monster, Careerbuilder, craigslist, and my state online site that has jobs listed on it. Is it better to hit the pavement?

- Depends on what type of jobs you are looking for. Monster seems to be dominated by head hunters, ok for professionals like engineers. Most places are moving toward the web based systems. I write up my resume and supporting information, several pages. Then when I apply on the web, I cut and paste. Networking is still the best way. Follow up applications with a phone call after a week. The human contact is important.
