Are there US Coast Guard Jobs that are involved with Search and Rescue, but are not Aviation Survival Techs?

  1. There is a Rescue Boat unit on old Ft. Baker on the Marin side of the Golden Gate. Am sure they are not the only Rescue Boat unit. Nice guy's too! Have been there several times. The guys out on Yerba Buena have a larger ship/boat that might go out beyond the GG. They also have patrol birds up damn near all day buzzin SF Bay. Will guess they do this in many locations too!
  2. Boatswains Mates (BM's) deal with Search and Rescue. In the Coast Guard, just because your job description doesn't say anything about Search and Rescue, doesn't mean you wont take part in any. There were damage control Coasties helping out with the haiti relief. BM's are out in heavy surf rescuing people. MK's are out doing Search and Res with the BM's ... its collateral duty.
