What are the search and rescue careers in the National Guard?

I was planning to go navy as a Search and Rescue Corpsman, but I came across the National Guard when I was browsing some military sites, and I saw that they do search and rescue. But unfortunately, I can't seem to find any websites that tell me what you do in the National Guard for SAR or what jobs there are. I would love to jump out of a plane, scuba dive, climb mountains, everything, I am an EMT-B and love it. Does the National Guard deploy? America's awesome, but I would like live in a different country at least once in my life. What types of SAR does the National Guard do? I've always been a water baby, so I definitely want to do water rescues, but I also love being in the air, and climbing, so I would alo want a flight medic type job also. Is there any Search and Rescue Jobs in the Guard that I can do all this? I would prefer if someone told me who has experience, or knows someone that does, but anyone's answer would be appreciated. Thanks!

  1. Try the Coast Guard, they have a much better SAR program. And it's a very demanding job.
  2. Some states have Search and Rescue units to support their domestic mission but this is an extremely small portion of the Guard over all. It's certainly not entry level.
