Why are half of the job listings on hotjobs, career builder, and indeed jobs scams?

I'm looking for work and I go on these sites looking for work only to find out that more than half of them are some type of scam. I haven't applied to any but I know some people have not knowing. Are there any legit online job sites?

  1. Craigslist.com Best site ever.
  2. The good jobs today go to people who know how to network. Good jobs don't get put in the paper very often. Start telling everyone you know what you are looking for and check the companies you want to work for people you know who work there or just call the manager and ask for and appointment tell them you'd really like to find out what it takes to work there. That or find an employment agency/headhunter to do the ground work for you. Again ask around for that. Here is two really helpful sites, there's a free option on both. http://www.upmo.com/index.html http://www.linkedin.com/nhome/
  3. In England we have jobcentres in every town where you can go and find legitimate jobs, so I guess maybe there are places like this in the US too? Also, speak to a careers advisor at school or college if you have access to one... The truth is 99.99999999 % of these people saying they want to help you are scum who just want to scam you, waste your time or steal your bank account details. Best advice is speak to friends and family who work for GOOD, RESPECTABLE companies, and ask for help getting a similar job. Also, think about companies you want to work for rather than going on these bullsh't www.make-me-rich-in-no-time.com websites. Big companies who are doing well despite the recession - Walmart, Apple, local banks and insurance companies, large retail companies, the phone companies, the police or fire department, local hospitals, the govenrment, etc will always be your best bet. Think smart. If someone WAS getting rich filling in spam surveys, they'd be doing it 24 hours a day, not being on yahoo answers asking you to follow their link to a cr@ppy website. TRUST ME on this, they are ALL crooked. The only website i know of that lets you earn money from home is Ebay, and that's only if you have a good product to sell...
