i have overgrown arbor vitae on the side of my house.?
they are eighteen feet high. can i "top" them to eight feet? i don,t want to cut them down. they,re just too large for the location. thanks for this answer.

- You can top an arborvitae but you have to remember that the inside is going to look dead since it was receiving practically no sun. Cutting 10 ft is a lot and it will probably look awful for about a year but it should fill in fine. Give it lots of fertilizer to help it (don't over do it) and shape it as it grows. Its much easier to maintain the height you want by trimming it a few times a year instead of waiting and chopping but it can be done.
- cut the little blighters down. youll have more room and more sun!
