Should I tell my boss about my job search?

I've been working for this company for a little while but the nature of the job requires that I take 1-2 week breaks in-between 5 week sessions. I recently found out that the next break will be 4 weeks long. I can't financially handle not working for a whole month, so naturally I started looking for a new job. We work with underprivileged kids and I want there to be someone there to do the job. So should I tell my boss about my job search in case he needs to hire someone else?

  1. Most social service non-profit type organizations usually have an ongoing turnover with their employees. If you are serious about leaving then find out if you have to give them a notice of departure. OR This might be an opportunity to discuss your future with them and perhaps you can negotiate..
  2. No need if you feel so because your boss is basically paying you for the work you do for him. Once you stop working for him your relationship with your boss ends and you never going to see him again let alone meet. Forget the boss once you get the job. Best of Luck.
