How do I explain my 14 mths of been jobless after been retrenched previously? Is it even normal at all?

I am a 29 year old who have been working for 7 years in 4 different job, technical jobs and office jobs. I was retrenched last year and was also doing part time night study business diploma and I possess a ITC in mechanical engineering. I only start to search for job actively few month ago. It has been 14mths than I'm out of job. Is it normal at all? How do I explain the gap during the interview? Thanks.
