- check their website, oh and it's a little hard to enlist in the coast guard.
- How about if you specify yourself over to the Coast Guard Recruiting web site: http://www.gocoastguard.com They have the answers you need there. For Officers - other than managing SAR cases, there are no SAR billets.
- Well to start of, all of the Aviation rates will involve search and rescue in some way. Most AMT's and AET's can crosstrain into Search and Rescue Aircrew positions. Hoist operator, navigations, etc. Not to forget AST's or the famed Helicopter Rescue Swimmers. Those are all Aviation Search and Rescue positions. You could also be a BM for small boats and utility craft that perform search and rescue. Also you can try getting station at an Aids to Navigation station or ANT out of basic. I had a few friends from basic do that and they sometimes performed Search and Rescue though you would still be a non-rate. If your interested in more you should visit their recruiting website and request some brochures. Most of the stuff they send has awesome info in it. gocoastguard.com. And ofcourse don't forget to talk to a recruiter. They are a bit more helpful haha
