On this paragraph below I need help to list examples and details that show that the passage is a firsthand historical narrative. Please explain to me how this passage is a firsthand historical narrative! Thank you so much for all your help! While the ships stayed, our allowance was somewhat bettered by a daily proportion of biscuit which the sailors would pilfer to sell, give, or exchange with us for money, sassafras, or furs. But when they departed, there remained neither tavern, beer house, nor place of relief but the common kettle. Had we been as free from all sins as gluttony and drunkenness we might have been canonized for saints, but our President would never have been admitted for engrossing to his private, oatmeal, sack, oil, aqua vitae, beef, eggs, or what not but the kettle; that indeed he allowed equally to be distributed.

1. "Our" and "We" refer to the speaker themselves or it would of been "their" .. the references "tavern" and such indicate the story is from the past and not used in everyday references, ie iPod and Pirate instantly give to a immediate effect to which time frame you're suggesting.
