please help me with my job search?

I am a military spouse on Elmendorf AFB in Alaska. I currently work at IHOP and haven't thought about working on base before, so I'm not sure how to go about it. I cannot seem to find any way to get my resume out there or any type of site that has job listings. If anyone can help me with this that would be great. I don't have a lot of experience in anything other that being a waitress... But am currently going to college.

  1. Well in today's economy its tough for a lot of people to get jobs with the unemployment rate being at 9.8% or around there. Also with your lack of experience its tough to get a job into your college major until you are closer to graduating. If you are just looking to get another waitress job then you can just drive to the restaurant and ask for an application if they are hiring. Using websites like Monster.com and Careerbuilder.com may help but with no real expertise/skills I don't think you will get a lot of call backs. If you are looking to get a job that revolves around your college major then in your Junior or Senior year in college apply to some internship positions.
  2. Hey, I live over on Fort Richardson and there are two ways to going about this if you want to work on base. You can go to http://www.usajobs.gov/ and set up an account and submit your resume. Look for the jobs here in the Elmendorf/Fort Richardson area. Then apply for the job. Or you can go to BLDG 600 on Fort Richardson and go down to the basement. The west side of the basement has a whole hall way designated to helping people find jobs for military spouses and soldiers getting out of the army! Go there and ask for someone to help. They will help you do your resume and give you more to go on!! :) Click the link below for all current job listing on base!
