What town is a good place to live in Maine.?
I am interested in moving to Maine. I just don't know what part i want to live in! I am a outdoor girl, i would like to be near the ocean, but in the woods also. I love hunting, fishing, hiking.etc... please help! Also finding a job won't be hard, I am a nursing student, and planning on working in a hospital!

- anywhere in portland or the surrounding toiwns::: falmouth, yarmouth, freeporth ... or south portland...if you want to live inland a little ways you can look into westbrook, windham, and standish but now you are getting about 30 minutes away from portland
- Lot's of choices for you. If you like the beach, you will want to stay south of Portland, ME. North (actually east) of Portland the coast is pretty much all the rocky coast that Maine is famous for. South of Portland there are great beaches. You can live in what seems like the middle of the woods, yet be only a mile from the ocean in most any of the southern Maine coastal towns. Southern Maine Medical Center is in Biddeford, ME. You can easily commute to SMMC and live anywhere from Portland to Portsmouth. SMMC is the largest hospital in the southern Maine area. Don't count out NH either. NH and Maine are very similar with regard to the outdoors. There are two hospitals on the NH seacoast (Portsmouth and Exeter). NH has no income tax or sales tax, which is an advantage. It's also closer to Boston, should you end up working in the medical centers there. If you really like Maine, I'd suggest looking at Wells, Kennebunk or Kennebunkport. If you end up working at Maine Medical Center in Portland it's still a doable commute. Very close to SMMC or York Hospital and you could conceivably work in Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Portsmouth, NH too.
- portland and the area, bangor, bar harbor, augusta/lewiston - but it is not near the ocean. there are many.
- So you do this backwards by first finding hospitals near the coast that will employ you and go from there. Good luck List of hospitals in Maine (U.S. state), sorted by location.
