Why are the taxes and car insurance so high in Maine?
Me and my family are considering trying to find a nice and democratic place to live, Maine is on our radar right now. I do not want to move us out to the Midwest in the middle of nowhere. Maine looks as if their job market seems stable. NO ONE really has any complaints about the people, culture, or education....they all complain about 2 things, Taxes, and Car Insurance....can someone please explain the cost and why they are so expensive. Thanks.

- Taxes and car insurance are high everywhere and everyone complains about it. It will get higher too to pay off the debt this country is in.
- A lot of people are on welfare. And after living in Maine my whole life, I would say the job market is stable, but there just weren't that many jobs to begin with. The state is in a pretty much permanent recession, so it doesn't hit as hard because we're used to it. I've never had any issues with car insurance, our rates are pretty normal.
- autoinsurance.noneto.com - try this one. I personally have their car insurance, cause it is the cheapest for me in our area.
