Why is it so impossible to get a job!?!?!?
I've managed to get interviews at least every other week with almost all the local shops/restaurants that I could easily mesh into. I'm bilingual (French). I have a perfectly formatted resume. I have former experience in the fast-food industry. I'm a perfectly capable 19 year old. I know for a fact that my former managers would all rehire me in a heartbeat if the opportunity were presented to them. Ughh.....I hate living in the High Desert (California)! The only job listings I can ever find for this area on the web are all for jobs that require degrees, bar tending school and stripping. All these stupid Ma 'n' Pa shops and restaurants only hiring family members and friends. I'm not at all exaggerating either. I can't stand not having any income anymore. My clothes are all WAY over sized, ratty and stained. I can't go to school like I want to due to lack of income/no one to lend any money. It also sucks that almost everyone I know/am related to is in the same situation that I'm in. Sorry, I just needed to vent. I realize that there are a lot more people that probably have it exactly as bad or way worse than me right now, but it's still extremely frustrating to know that I was doing perfectly fine in life and now I've fallen to the bottom of the hole. If anyone actually has a legitimate answer for this, go ahead and shoot.

- It's just hard to find a job. Seeing how you can not relocate, I would say look into Job Corps, you have free housing, free living, up to 50$ every two weeks, with opprotunities to get jobs on center to make 150$ every two weeks, and 1200$ after u graduate. There is also college that is payed for by the government. You also learn a trade, such as CNA (certified Nursing Assistant) Culinary, Electrician..etc... It is a good opprotunity. If you would like to know my personal experience, let me know. Other Gov. ran programs: AmeriCorps PeaceCorps
- It's horrible being without an income! If you're getting interiews, chances are you could gain a position any time. My suggestion is to gain feedback from the interviewers regarding your performance in case there is anything you can improve on. Do some cold canvassing thorugh your networks if you can. And keep on applying. You could widen the types of jobs you apply for as well, or look further afield. When I couldn't get a job in the country town I was living in, I decided that I'd apply for jobs all over my country. I got a great role within 3 weeks of doing this! It was hard because I had to move to the other side of the country within a 3 day window, but in the end it was worth it. Nearly 3 years later and I'm still in that job :)
- Well, for one thing, I think California is having a hard time financially, and there probably are not many jobs for you there. If you could just go to a different state, I am sure you could find a job in a country club or club where they would give you a job. I live in North Carolina, and it seems we have had it much better here with the employment status than other states. We have a lot of private places such as the Biltmore Estate which would be glad to give you a job.
