Jobs Simply

Unemployment is a big problems right now, but how are Civil Engineers doing? Are they facing layouffs too?

I heard that the Obama administration will be boosting the demand for civil projects and that people such as Civil Engineers will be in a huge demand. My question is; how are Civil Engineers doing right now, are they facing layoffs or are there so many jobs for them that they can pick-and-choose whatever they want to do ("future's so bright, I got to wear shades" sort of thing?). I read that one Civil Engineering graduate had to select from 5 different job offers and all of them were over $50,000 per year, so they are not having any problems with finding jobs after graduation. I couldn't believe that and my mouth almost fell open! So is it true, are there so many high paying jobs for Civil Engineers that they are enjoying the good times while everyone is suffering massive layoffs? Please tell me what have you been hearing on the grapevine. Thanks!! (and have a nice day.) :-)

  1. My brother is busier than ever these days. There were a lot of projects that already had the funding lined up and the government said if they didn't get started they would lose the money. Also there were a lot of projects that were in the planning stages that will now be funded by the stimulus package so he has so much work he had to get more help.
