After reading a tragic story in the Scottish Daily Record, I find it hard to believe the policy of the management of the Ambulance Service. It seems that they are replacing two man crews with one man rapid response units to make the response times look better. Unfortunately in some situations the crew member is not allowed to attend the victim as in the case of the poor woman named in the article who had to sit in her vehicle and listen to a young man die. It would appear that the management seem to be more interested in figures and making themselves look good than taking care of patients. As a person who is alive today because of the skill and speedy response of the Ambulance Service I find this totally unacceptable and quite frankly unbelievable. I suggest chief executive Kevin Doran who's last job was with JobCentre Plus another shining example of organization heed the advice of of the experienced people in the service who put the welfare of the patients before meaningless figures.
