should I tell the truth during job interview?
Should I tell during my interview that I was asked to leave the company last December? I still can't find a decent job since then. I was an operations executive in a shopping mall when sacked. I have Bsc in facilities management.

- Yes, definitely. If you don't you will have to lye more to stop them from finding out. GOOD LUCK! x
- No. Never tell the truth!! I told the truth, that if I was employed by them I would still be tolerant of friends that took drugs (what do they expect, that I'd drop all my mates?) and I didn't get the job. I've learnt that honesty ISN'T the best policy! hahaha
- I would twist it a bit and sugar coat it if I was you. I don't know why you were asked to leave. Instead of saying you were asked to leave you could say that your position was eliminated or management reorganized your department and you fell victim to cuts or something else. You don't want to outright lie about it. You just want to make it sound less like you simply got fired. If you just lie about it, then it will always be a weight on your shoulders.
- Yes, always tell the truth.. they are gonna find out anyway, so just tell them
- There's a couple of issues here, first do not volunteer this information, but it's better to not lie about the reason for leaving. In doing reference checks, a company has the legal right to state that you were terminated from your position, as it is factual, not opinion. SO, it can become grounds for immediate termination if they find out after you were hired. At the minimum, your credibility with the employer is now seriously damaged. And, the company you left, can be charged with negligent referencing, if they fail to provide information that would hard the next employer if the employee causes problems. Instead, I would say that yes, the job ended, but if it was your fault, let them know what you learned from that experience. I'm more likely to hire a person who has been fired, if they tell me the truth and is honest about how they have learned and grown from that mistake. Anyone can make a mistake, but to learn and prevent the mistakes, tells me a lot more about them.
