How to find babysitting jobs & how much to charge?

I'm 20 and a nursing student, and I'd love to start babysitting again - long story short, I loved it when I was little and it'd be great with my current schedule. So, question: when I was 12 I only charged $3 but it seems I should be able to charge a little more now, right? And more importantly how do I find jobs? Other than asking my friends who have kids, which I've already started doing. Thanks!

  1. 3 dollars the whole time... more like 3 dollars an hour!!! look in the news paper in the job section people are looking 4 babysitters all the time.. or run an add and put flyers up...we did that as teenagers and it worked..
  2. I go on Kijiji.com and make sure it's in your area there is always lots of postings and they usually say how much they are willing to pay. Google Kijiji babysitting jobs in your area.
  3. you should charge about $5-$8. just tell people in your neighbourhood who have kids that you are doing babysitting. sometimes if you live near a school you can ask to put a notice up on the school notice board or in the school newsletter
  4. if you live in a large city they usually have serivices. My sister babysat all the way through college and got paid about 800 a week. it was kindof like a exclusive company for the really rich people in chicago and they scheduled her online and then get paid through the agency, she loves it. those might be hard to find though because it wasn't in the phonebook it was all word of mouth by the agency and the customers. its called KGrace you might be able to find the website it might have links to somewhere near you
  5. about 5 to 7 dollars per hour is a good price.be sure that you are cpr and first aid certified. be sure to know if the kids have special needs like medical conditions and allergies.you can either post your ad here or look for possible jobs. Just google ownadaycare on the net
