I have been working in an IT firm for 3yrs.Iam planning to do a MBA in Finance. Is it wise to switch Career now

Iam not able to give my 100 % to the technical job i do now as iam not interested in it. Even though i get a decent salary here i dont think i can continue with this job. i have a flair toward portfolio management in financial sector. I feel that doing a MBA in Finance will bring out the fullest potential in me. Please advise me whether doing a carrer switch at this stage is a wise decision or not? Should i go for a MBA or should i stick to my present job? Also tell me if the experience i have now will help me in my MBA studies. And whether my experience in IT Industry for 3 yrs will be considered by corporates when i go in search of a job once i finish my MBA..

  1. I have been working in the I.T. Field for over 30 years. I say do it now, while you still can. I wish I could, but I am still making good money and it would be a big cut in pay to get into something else. Also, I have been laid off from many I.T. jobs because of H1B visa workers coming in to do the work or jobs being outsourced. This field is starting to die for a career. Good luck.
