Is being admin support for 2.5 years frowned upon in a job search?

My first job out of college was for 4 years, and I've been at my current job for 2.5 years. Will my length of time be frowned up if I search for another job now? I am admin support, but I really would like more autonomy and a chance to work in the area of my degree - which is something I can't do at my current company. Thanks.

  1. Experience is experience, on whatever level. I don't see why it would be frowned upon, as long as prospective employers can get a job reference for you. It's more important that you have a steady work history without unexplained gaps in employment. Most employers will understand that we take what we can get to get started and build for our futures, even if it is outside our chosen profession.
