How can I find a job? Please help!?

I've been looking for work for a year now! I live in a very barren area with no type of business or establishment for miles and miles, and I have no car, I graduated high school but had to stop going to college my first semester when my car broke down. The area I live in also has no transportation assistance, what can I possibly do to get a job of any kind? please help! I recently looked at Federal Job listings just to realize I wouldn't qualify for any of them as I have NO work experience! I know it would be great if I could move somewhere where there were jobs, but if I cant afford to buy a car(even a cheap one), how can I afford to relocate? I have no way to move from where I live.

  1. While this sounds like a smart a$$ answer it isn't meant to be. If you live somewhere with no jobs then you need to move to where there are jobs.
  2. I agree with WRG... not trying to be smart, but you need to move to where there is public transportation and jobs available. If you live in a barren area with no businesses, how can you possibly expect to find a job?
  3. I know this may sound a bit odd...and not what you'd like to do, but here are some options: Babysitting. Think after school or all day long, limit age groups and play up your level of responsibility (and any experience caring for kids). An average price for my area (that sounds very similar to yours) is $60 a week per kid. (Parents will drop off kids, so you don't need transportation). Tutoring. Seeing how you did graduate high school & attend some college, you have experience and you are young enough to relate to kids. Think middle school age or younger. Market yourself to the school counselors and teachers. Put up flyers in schools, stores, offices, etc. Parents can bring students to your house (make that part clear). Just try thinking outside of the box. Sometimes, you can come up with a business venture that takes little to no money to start and can become a huge success.
  4. You may want to consider job alternatives or service oriented jobs that will pay you and provide you with room and board. This will allow you to get out of the town you're in, earn some money and gain experience. Here's a post (below) that I wrote on my blog, Jobless Genevieve, about job alternatives. Good luck!
