Why do retired military CONS get to collect their retirement and benefits while working civilian jobs?
I know SO many that fall in this category. These people are among the few riding out this depression quite well. Some have multiple retirement checks coming in while they work other jobs. This is total socialism, and very unAmerican. Plus, the government could use that money if the ex-mil is capable of earning an income.

- Not to mention all the hypocritical losers living off unemployment. Their golden boy Reagan was the one who started this financial crisis in the first place. LOL
- This HAS to be a troll question, but I'll bite. As a liberal I take pride in saying, seriously? Retired military- I don't care which party they are affiliated with earned those checks and benefits and should be the first to get their hands on the government funds, period.
- Same reason they get VA care. Our security is very important - too bad the general population can't get some kind of reasonable healthcare insurance either.
- Yeah because when I was fighting for our country in Afghanistan with the 75th, in spartan conditions with insurgents trying to kill me 24/7 the only thing I looked forward to was coming home and living well. I think I've earned the right to live well because of my service. Oh, Ranger School, OIF and EIF was hell by the way; what's the hardest thing you've ever done in your life wait in line at Starbucks?
- That works for everybody. How about the retired military guy who takes a Gov. or Railroad job, retires again and gets a job in the private sector. Called a double dipper and a triple dipper. But what's wrong with that? The option is available to most all of us.
- Come back and complain when your job involves fighting for freedom and potential death.
- When we join the military there are certain benefits guaranteed us. Those are just a few. Instead of whining why not see your local recruiter? When I was in, and you had to be in prior to Jan 01, 1976, we got what is known as the full ride to include education, retirement, loans and free quality health care til death do we part. My husband and I both have been receiving retirement checks since our end of enlistment in 1999 with 30 years a piece. Then we went to work for the federal government and have even better benefits with 6 checks a month. Instead of complaining, join us.
- Retirees from the private sector can collect their retirement pensions and go on to work in another job that might offer them a pension of it's own if they've enough time for it. Why should military personnel be denied this opportunity? Tons of folks in the transportation industries do the same. Police officers. Postal employees. Unions. This is a very wide spread practice. I'm curious as to why you've singled out military.
- R-U- kidding? They get less than people on Welfare get. You want to attack LARGE GOVT INCOME! ATTACK CONGRESS and THE SENATE! Some of them only work a couple years and are set for life! A good life-Millionaire lifestyle! You ever seen a military dude or family living in mansions- No! I was shocked to hear Hasan made 6 figures! He must have gotton special treatment for being a Muslim.
