How can i get a work visa and search for jobs in nha trang vietnam?

I have just come back from a month in vietnam and want to return next year for a year. I am aware if i get a personal visa i can only get it for 3months but this would mean i would have to jump countries on the third month. Is it easy to get a work visa and to search for a job (im looking at staying in nha trang) thanks for the help

  1. Easy? I wouldn't think so. There's been changes to the visa regulations and I cannot find anyone, including the Viet Consulate in Australia, who can tell me exactly what they are. I've just been told there's no more 6 or 12 month visas. First you'd have to find someone willing to employ you. Then they would have to negotiate the bureaucratic maze to get you a work permit etc. I know of one restaurant owner who's trying desperately to sell his business because he only has a tourist visa. This was published recently. http://vietnamnews.vnanet.vn/showarticle.php?num=01LAB240909 Izzy_Cool. Not true huh? How did you arrive at that conclusion? Have you applied for a visa of any kind in the last month, since the changes? A work permit? A work visa? A visa extension perhaps? Give the guy some examples. ONE DAY huh? Who's telling porkies Izz? Give the man some contact numbers. Expats up and down the country will be waiting anxiously for your reply!
  2. I love hearing the horror stories, but fortunately, most of them are not true. Getting a visa in Vietnam is no more difficult than getting one anywhere else. You have to get your paperwork filled out correctly and submit the forms with the appropriate payment. If you work for a company, they will handle all of this for you and get your work permit (which is what you need for any business visa longer than three months. Regarding "Buon Giorno Vietnam" comment, I too have a Vietnamese wife (14 years now). Yes, you can get a long-term visa providing you have proof of marriage AND providing your wife acts as your guarantor (which can be dangerous as hell if she gets pissed at you and cancels your visa and takes the house.) Lastly, if you want to get a longer stay visa, talk to one of the more well known tourist hotels / travel agents. They have the connections to sort you out quickly, sometimes in ONE DAY. Enjoy your stay in Vietnam and good luck with the job hunting!
  3. Answer to Akujin: In your case, I would like to suggest some ideas as follows: First, you should apply online for 3 month visa at http://www.vietnam-visa.com/ Second, when your visa expired, you should extend or renew it easily in Vietnam through a local travel agency. You also can apply for a Vietnam permanent card at Vietnam Immigration.
