UK - Why does the job centre search for jobs for you which will not support your family? please read on;?
I took my Hgv1 licence, my Health and safety level2 and have gained over 12yrs experience delivering everything from explosives to fuel to bread and paper. I have had an ADR licence 3 times and a hiab and an access reach platform demonstrator's licence- in the last 6yrs I have paid around £60,000 in tax by doing all the work I could so I've proven I am not idle and not against further education - in fact whilst I've been unemployed (through saying I wouldn't break the law) I've endorsed my O'level maths with an Adult numeracy level 2 and retaken health and safety at work level2 and passed both with flying colours. THEN- I visit my local job centre where they want to give me jobs that mean the government will have to pay me tax credits and we'll lose our house. I have 4 children and normally earn between 30 and 40g a yr so that I don't have to sponge off the tax payer- which being on the dole is exactly what I am doing- agreed - The job centre want me to take employment that I have no real experience in and pays half or less of the earnings I was used to and bred 4 kids on. I weren't claiming anything whilst at work and can't see how they think not being able to pay as much tax and on top sponging off the state too will help the country- GET RID OF THESE IDIOTS and give us some bloody job boards like we used to have! WELL! 'Sandy- I went to your suggested site - at VERIOUS and immediately KASPERSKY INTERNET SECURITY kicked in with reports of trojans and once deleted the trojan had created back up for itself- this may not be a good suggestion to be giving out love! EVERY ONE ELSE- PLEASE BE ADVISED!

- Don't stress about it, Job Centre staff don't get paid very much and are only trying to help in there own annoying way. Don't rely on them to find you a job - all their vacancies you can view online without needing to go to the job centre - the equivalent of the old "job boards". Also see the link below for the main recruiters of drivers - be proactive and contact them all directly without waiting to see a job advertised, get ahead of the pack. The recession means there are fewer jobs around - but there is an overall shortage of HGV drivers in this country as more drivers retire and fewer younger people are interested in becoming one.
- If you have a HGV licence then why not sign on with some agencies in your area or you try phoning local supermarkets or department stores to see what agencies they use as they will usually have 1 main supplier then sign on with them. Unfortunately, chances are that you aren't going to walk into a job thats worth 30k a year, even if you are willing to work for it but there shouldn't be anything stopping you from bringing home 20-25K doing agency work.
- Their job is to get you a job, no matter what it is or what the pay is. Their job is to lower the number of people on benefits. All other priorities are rescinded for them. They don't care about you. Their job is to serve their political paymasters.
- Lol! They're not really that bothered. They get paid no matter what. Years ago when I was unemployed I was "ordered" to apply for a job that paid £85 a week P/T with irregular hours (which meant that I couldn't get a second job as the hours changed each day so I wouldn't be able to commit to set times in another position) I asked if I'd still get Housing benefit and council tax payment, they told me no, £85 would take me over the limit. So my wage would have to cover my £65 p/w rent and £20 council tax, as well as gas, water, electricity, tv licence and other essentials such as food etc. Which of course, it would not. I was even told that if I DIDN'T apply, the JC employee would mark my file as unco-operative and my benefit would be stopped. I understand that its their job to get people off the dole but I was only on it for less than 6 weeks! I know that if I'd turned up wearing a Burberry baseball cap with big Gold hoop earrings and spoke badly with a mouth full of chewing gum they'd have ushered me through, asked me to sign a bit of paper and told me to get lost til the next fortnight, no questions asked!! I think I should've gone for a Job Centre job. Apparently you don't need any qualifications or even common sense to work there.
- My husband a Catering Manager with over 40 years of experience was offered a job by the jobcentre of making pasties in a factory. Was told by them 'well its food isnt it' Found his own job through an Agency. As they say they have to offer you anything to get you off the dole. Good Luck.
- The Job centres are a complete waste off time, their sole purpose in life is to get you off the dole (unemployment figures0 not find you a job which will support you, your self reliance and pride are of no concern to them, you refer to being a burden on the tax payer, well let me say you are the tax payer, these people who pass out dole money are administering your money not giving you theirs, this country and it's leaders, policy makers and law enforcement people are more than happy to give out taxes to people who do not deserve it people who have never paid in a penny immigrants, the politicians are more than happy to steal the money and have been doing so since the maggy thatcher days almost 30 years, I know people who have been to sign on and been told by some uneducated muppet to get a job and ask her neighbour to pop in and check on her children, the youngest being only two years old, these people really are on the lowest top ten chart just under the politicians, not knowing your personal circumstances I would say this, their are countries out their that offer a much better life especially to someone with your qualification who are willing to work, consider moving to Canada and give your family a chance off a better life their is nothing here for them we have become a stagnant dishonest country controlled by liars thieves and perverts, good luck
