Is it bad if a company sees your resume twice?

I am applying for jobs but it seems that many companies post job listings on job search websites as well as on their company website. If I post a resume for a position on a job search website and then again on the company website for the same position, would it make me look bad if they see my resume multiple times? What about posting it on multiple job websites? Or should I just go ahead and do it? Thanks.

  1. As long as your not submitting your resume for a specific postition more than once it will not look bad. You would have to submit your resume via the individual companies (even if you post it on a job search site) because not all companies use job search sites. You can post it on multiple job sites if you want to... just make sure that you are physically turning your resume into places around your town, and that you are visiting individual companies' websites for open positions as well. Don't simply rely on the job-search sites.
  2. It is a good idea to keep track of the positions to which you apply, in order to reduce the amount of duplicate applications. Having said that, employers understand that you may find a position in multiple locations, and will expect to see duplicate applications. It is not something about which you should be too concerned. You can post your resume on multiple job websites, but you will have much more success if you are responding to specific positions with a resume and cover letter that is targeted toward each requisition to which you respond. With so many applicants (in this unfortunate job market), very few employers will be looking to job boards to find qualified applicants - enough will be coming to them! Best of luck in the job search process.
