Where is a good place to live in Maine?
I'm getting out the army Jan. of 2011, and I'm planning on moving to Maine. I need to find a good home, in a good neighborhood, w/ good schools, and good paying jobs. Can someone help me? Thank you.

- I'll try to tackle these: "good paying jobs" - really don't exist in ME, unless you're a business exec. or a scientist at IDEXX. But wages are decent and livable as long as you don't have a boat-load of credit issues. "good neighborhoods" - Avoid everything in the town of Westbrook and most of the Lewiston / Auburn area. Residential Saco, residential Scarborough, Gorham, Yarmouth, Brunswick, Topsham, and Falmouth are nice if you don't want to live in Portland (if you do live in Portland either Oakdale or North Deering are the best districts - furthest removed from the city, but a bit costlier). Of course this also depends on whether or not you want to live coastal or inland - I've listed mostly coastal cities / towns. "good schools" - Portland probably has the best, most racially diverse schools. Yet I think "best" is only a state standard that'd pale in comparison to schools in other states. Most schools in Cumberland and York counties are pretty reputable within the state. (Deering, Waynflete School, PHS - Portland; Cumberland Co. & Thorton Academy - Saco; York Co.).
- no,it is a nightmare state. cape cod is the best in NEngland
