Are these "work at home" job listings just scams?
When I search for jobs in my area, most of the listings are "work at home and data entry" jobs. Are these legit or are they trying to scam us? I wish I could make $50/hr. answering survey questions. If they are in fact scams, why are they allowed on the job listing sites like monster and yahoo jobs?

- ALL of those are scams. If it seems too good to be true, it usually is. If that was a real job, they wou;dn't have to advertise for it...there would be a line of people trying to get it.
- Yes, they're scams. You can make a few extra bucks doing surveys, but not $50/hour. My wife is signed up with some survey company and does a survey or two each week, takes only a few minutes, and she earns a few points. She has actually gotten checks and cashed them, but we're talking like $10 after a few months of doing 2 surveys a week. It really comes out to only a few cents per survey but she does it because she likes it. My point is that it IS possible to make a small amount of money doing surveys, but you can't make a living on it or anything.
- Agree with the other poster. Sure there are opportunities to work at home. But who is rich enough to pay people $50 a hour to answer questions? You do realize that $50/hour=$100,000 a year? For working at home? Jeez- that's a scam if I ever heard one. Many people don't make anywhere close to that amount of money, and they have to work M-F in an office. They get away with it because they omit the fine print. Maybe you earn $50/hour if you could complete all 500 surveys/claims in 1 hour. But if each survey takes 5 minutes, you only get to complete 12. You get the picture... I do wish you best of luck in your career search.
- This is an excellent question... Meanwhile be careful, I am very reluctant to work for anyone that I cannot see; especially, the payroll clerk.
- You might want to look into starting your on business with a tried and true source. If interested email me and I will be happy to share more information.
