Best way to apply for a job?

I used to work at a C.P.W. Christian Book Store, but after they closed a lot of their stores down, I am forced to look for another job like thousands of Americans. Anyways, there are several listings in a local mall where I want to apply to. At the mall's website, they have the manager's name and number to reach them at. My question is should I call first and then just follow the application process the managers give me? OR should I just walk in and fill out an application along with a cover letter and my resume? If I do call them first, what should I say when I call them? Thanks in advance to all that answer this question. I just want to make sure that I taking the best approach at this, especially now more than ever.

You should definitely walk in,fill out the application and give your resume.By doing that first your giving the manager time to go over your application and that gives him an idea if he wants to hire you or not.If you call first,the manager is going to be pretty clueless to why your calling if you didn't even fill out an application.After you drop off your resume and completed the application i would call about three or four days later,and just say you filled out an application,and your just calling to check the status.Then go from there. Good luck.
3. Difficult question, but best thing to do would be fill out resume and cover letter and hand deliver. That way you are showing aggressiveness in your actions. Employers like that.
