  1. It is difficult to find a job everywhere in the USA right now. West Virginia has the lowest unemployment rate right now.
  2. yes and yes..the best chance in vermont is burlington and that is a very small town with very limited opportunities.. in maine the best chance is in portland..but again limited opoortunities and the wages suck...people are really hurting right now aroud here, everyone from fisherman to shipyard workers to white collar workers...
  3. I worked and lived in VT from 2001-2006. I moved there to accept a position with a non-profit organization that actually paid pretty well. However after leaving that position in 2005 I accepted a much lower paying job in outdoor recreation equipment sales. My wife switched employers 3 times in the same time period. However none of the jobs she had were well paying enough to make a career out of. So in 2006 we moved out of southern VT. Had we been living already in Burlington or Montpelier we could possibly had found career-worthy jobs, but we were able to find better paying jobs in out fields in Pennsylvania. So here we are. The bottom line is jobs are easy to find in VT, however not many are career worthy unless you are in the health care field or plan to live in Burlington or Montpelier. Health care professionals are needed throughout the state and you can pretty much choose to live and work wherever you want. Likewise, almost any career type can find work in the Burlington and Montpelier areas but be prepared for high rent or property taxes not to mention the higher cost of living throughout the state. Managerial positions at many smaller companies in other parts of VT are hard to find. My wife's two managers at her last place of employment both had been with in the positions they held for at least 15 years each. At her other workplace there were people in management positions for over 20 years and those people waited 20 years for those jobs to become available. We didn't have that kind of patience.
