Temp companies and Newspaper and Internet has no JOBS, is calling or viewing Phonebook companies websitesGOod?
I'm fed up that there's no Jobs anywhere. Is it a good idea to do job search by going through phonebook and calling as many companies as can. Or viewing company websites I mean, what else can i do when there's only 20 job listings in the newspaper AND most of those are fake. In craiglist too, most of the things are SPAM and not real jobs

- I'm in the same situation as you and I need a job badly! I have been going building-to-building in area towns with my resumes. Most places are cutting back, not hiring. Even fast food doesn't want me because they can tell from my background I will not be there long-term and I have no experience in fast food to try and hire on as a manager.
- yes it is a good idea to search through the phonebook and websites. The more places you try the better chance of finding something. Also try the local unemployment office. Don't give up, its really hard right now to find one but you just gotta keep at it. Good Luck!!
- The best way to find a new job is networking. Call everyone you know and talk to them about the situation. For example: even if there company isn't hiring do they know anyone who might be. do they have any suggestions on places to look. Can they review your resume to see if there is anything they think you should change. Yeah, most of answers will be dumb and a "waste of your time" but you only need one job and you never know where that can come from. Many jobs are never advertised, even in a good economy, so networking is always one of the best ways to find a job. Also, they are estimating that it is taking 4-6 weeks for every $15K you hope to earn annually. So if you are looking for $45K that could easily take 18 weeks to find the position.
