Job without college education. Possible?

I'm a recent community college dropout. I have nearly enough hours to qualify for an associate of arts degree, but I just haven't gotten around to finishing that yet. I have come under increasing pressure from my parents to go out and get a job, but I don't want to get tied down into another job like the last one I had (I worked as the front desk clerk at a national hotel chain which had a location in my home town for nearly 2 years). I earned 7.50 there, which I would consider reasonable but not optimum if I were to be out on my own (I live with my parents now). I feel that I have enough skills to be paid a more competitive wage at a more secure position, but can't seem to find anything more than "box lifter needed" and other "career paths" in the local job listings (I live in a town of about 20,000 people). Is it possible for someone like me to find a job they love without a college degree, or am I doomed to wander the path of meager earning, uninteresting occupations such as "box lifter guy" and "front desk guy". I'm completely depressed and don't see any hope for myself when it comes to getting a job. Help!!!

  1. Finish up your degree. You are only hurting yourself giving up. How do you think that looks to an employer that you are a quitter? Is that someone you would want to hire?
  2. Yes make money here: http://survivetherecession.media.officelive.com/default.aspx
  3. Finish the degree. A sense of accomplishment will help pick up your spirits. Most people who have good paying jobs worked very hard to get them, like a college education. Question to ponder. What do you want to be when you grow up???
  4. Join the military, there is absolutly no reason to be living with your parents right now i mean come on im 17 years old and on my own. There are many options so you can find a job you like and most of the branches let you pick your job before you sign the contract. Basic training is very easy especially in the navy and the air force. I jopined the Navy in October 08 and am very happy with my decision. It would give you time to grow up a little and after you get out you can use your GI bill to finish college if you want. hope this helps.
