What do I do about not being able to find a job?
I have a B.A in Business Administration, 5 years retail experience, 4 years experience as an administrative assistant, and 4 years of data analysis experience. I lost my job in December and have been actively looking for a new one ever since. I have applied to over seven hundred jobs during that time, using multiple online sources, as well as resorting to driving around to retail stores and restaurants and filling out applications and talking to the manager. I've also applied with eight different placement/temporary agencies, all of which told me that they have way more applicants than usual and way fewer jobs than usual. I ran out of money several months ago, lost my apartment, and had to move in with my parents. About 6 weeks ago, i FINALLY found a job, but it is only 12 hours a week, which earns me about $400 a month. That's only enough to keep my car from getting repossessed (and no, I can't sell the car because I owe more on it than it is worth and also would have no way to go to interviews without it, let alone to work if I get a job). I have done everything that a person looking for work is supposed to do and then some, but I still can't get even a low paying job. I lost my home and most of my belonging, I can't buy ANYTHING, I can't go out other than to go to my part time job or to apply for other jobs, and I'm putting an unfair burden on my parents. I NEED TO START WORKING NOW, but I don't know what else I can do! Any advice? Added: I live in the Chicagoland area. And I'm not a guy, I'm a woman. And for what it's worth, I'm 29. I just don't know how to fix the silouette thingie that makes me look like a guy.

- Where do you live? I would think that with your education and experience it should be pretty easy to get a job. I don't really know what to tell you but I definitely want to wish you good luck and don't lose hope! It will all work out int the end.
- I am in the same situation. You are building character when you finally make it through ALL OF THIS CRAP!!!!! your life will have a new meaning and you will be a better man for it. Just do not give up check craigslist, deparment of labor, Malls, Banks, Fast Food Places....
- If you are eligible for unemployment, I would definitely start there. The current job market sucks- no getting around it and it will never get better. I understand your frustration and anxiety. Even at this low point in your life, you can take control. Don't wait for others to hand you a job- take one and work from home. Network marketing can be your answer to the unemployment woes. I am not going to go into a lot of detail here, but first go to www.firstclassmlm.com and learn all about this industry from a reliable source. Then if you want some more information, e mail me at coweemountaincoaching@yahoo.com and I will see if I can steer you into something that might interest you. Rota
