I applied online for a job at a local JCPenny's, since I found that they were hiring. Should I call?

I applied to a JCPenny's a few days ago, as I found out they were hiring by seeing their post on various job search engines. I was thinking of calling today to check to see if they received my application. Is this a bad move? I would really like this job, as it has to do with my future career - but I want to make the right moves. Help, please?

  1. Give them a call. Tell them you're just checking on the application and whether they need anything else. It won't hurt and thy might appreciate your follow up.
  2. you applied on-line so, who/where do you intend to call? is there a particular store you wish to work at? did you apply for a corporate position? if you used JC Penney's web-site to apply then you can call the store location your application was intended for, if you did not use their web-site then there is no way to know if they will ever receive the application, in which case just visit your local store to follow-up and apply again if need be. generally unless management at the store you plan to work at ask you to apply on-line or you are applying for a corporate position or you are applying for management positions or corporate internships it is always better to apply in person at the particular store you wish to work at.
