I am looking to move to San Jose or Sunnyvale, California... have some tips?

I need tips on good websites for apartment/house rentals, job searching, local community and business organizations, etc. I am in the media/internet technology field. I am looking for advice from locals. I know of craigslist.org. Yes, look at my profile, I live in and have been educated in the US. I want resources that locals use.

  1. well do you live in the U.S of A.?
  2. well, you already know about craigslist, so try that, try apartments.com and search that area and mercurynews.com under classified for rental listings.
  3. San jose, a lot of Vietnamese, and Hispanics. Sunnyville, a lot of Indians. Apartment, $1200 to 1500/month for 1 bedroom Job, rare in your field. yahoo, mercury, ebay all fire 10% of employees, google stop hiring..... If you don't have enough saving for 6 to 12 months, don't move
  4. san jose is great, always something to do down there, plenty of technology jobs and everything, you would love it and it's pretty safe there too. =]
  5. www.craigslist.org and careerbuilder.com would probably be your best bet for jobs..including housing listings.. As for housing, craigslist would be a great place to start looking for a place, or sj mercury news.... Downtown San Jose has lots of nice places with apartments for rent..which can be easily accessed by Light Rail and Bus (VTA) if you have to cummute to places like Yahoo, Google, Ebay for work..
  6. Rent.com, apartments.com are other places to look. You may also want to try to look into a church's website. Even if you are not religious, they sometimes post apartments. Depending on where you work, it can be good to live near public transportation. So check out vta.org to see the Light Rail (south bay train service) schedule. For job searches, try bajobs.com or simplyhired.com as alternatives to the big job posting sites. Simply Hired scrapes job information from company's websites.
