so basically your saying I'm going to college to get a job I might like. you graduate then what?
What did you do after you graduated? This super sucks... you spend all this time in college then they spit you out with kind of an idea of what you want to do if you can get a job doing it. So 3 years and thousands of dollars later, I feel like someone forgot to tell me something... So once I graduate. Then what? Really what happens after graduation... I'm supposed to just get a job and thats the rest of my life... am I the only one who is not ok with that I want to work, right out of college I think I need sometime to travel or something everyone thinks I'm odd for not wanting to start making resumes and going right to work as a entry level management trainee or something. Part of me wants to join the military, the other part of me just wants to sit on my butt for a few years.... I eventually do want my high paying executive job but I want to have fun and do interesting things before days in the board room... so what did you do when you graduated?

- It really depends on your personal situation. Do you have the money or resources to take off for that three-month trek around Europe or Asia? If so, then do it. You can also join the military, but then you will be stuck for awhile. It's not real easy to resign. Whatever you do, DO NOT sit on your butt for a few years. You will lose your momentum. I know a guy who dropped out of college after two years to earn more money to go back. That was five years ago, he doesn't have a car, just lost one of his two low-paying jobs and is living with his parents. So, you want adventure? Do it. It may help later when you get that big executive job, or you may discover that thing in life that will make your blood race, your heart pump with excitement and your brain say, "THIS is what I really want to do with the rest of my life." I admire those people who take a year off or so and go traveling, or volunteering, or join the Peace Corps or whatever. I personally moved back to my home state, got a job in the field I degreed in and have been working ever since. I had no safety net, so I had to start making my own way right away. Luckily, though, I loved what I was doing and had a blast. Find what excites you, and follow that.
- Right after I graduated I travelled a little bit, with the help of my family. They gave me money to take a few trips, which was my reward for getting a degree! I job hunted lightly, but had no real idea of what I wanted to do still so I finally accepted a job in August doing retail management. It's not an easy transition, I'll tell you that. I graduated a year ago and I am still having a tough time letting my amazing college years go. But the hard truth is, unless you have the money or the resources (my friend traveled south america for a year just by working odd jobs and such down there) to do something else, it's time to grow up and get a job. Such is life. Luckily, you have an almost limitless amount of things you can do for a job - doesn't have to be in an office.
- Well, if you're lucky enough to have rich parents that will support you, then by all means do a little traveling and explore both the world and yourself! If the money isn't there, get a job. But find one that will occasionally let you have a life outside of it. Once you're making money you'll be able to do things that you want to do. Having fun stuff to do outside of work makes work that much more meaningful.
