new to a receptionist job that requires me to use a phone that has multiple lines and is used to transfer call

so i need to use that phone to transfer calls and i was just wondering if you know to do that.. so i put them on hold and then call the person, then push the line # to transfer them? thanks a bunch!

1. depends on the type of phone on exactly how but you have the right idea, click hold and click transfer, type in # and then click join
2. yes it really depends on the type of phone you are using. the one i use has both a "hold" button and a "start" button. i put them on hold when i need a second to do something else, but when i transfer, i push start, extension number, release. you may have to literally punch in the extension number or just a button that is assigned to the specific person's extension. might want to ask the people who have had experience with it at your work place.
