I am thinking of moving to Vermont. Someone told me recently that Maine would be better. Any thoughts?
My family and I would like to move to Vermont. I heard that Maine would be better due to the job market in Vermont. I have warehouse and factory backgrounds and have worked at a naval shipyard. My wife prefers Vermont, but we need to go where the jobs are. Any info would be greatly appreciated between the two states.

- There are no shipyards in Vermont. There are a couple in Maine.
- What if you just went on an exploratory trip and located a job first? We're in some tough times, with perhaps some tougher times on the way, and it is expensive to move a whole family without a job tied down. I am thinking if you went ahead and looked around and could secure a job, then your family could follow once you had that in place, it would be more solid for you all. Check jobs in Burlington using Yahoo HotJobs, and anything else you can find in craigslist, too. Maybe you could line up some interviews in advance. Good luck!
- that might have been me that suggested maine--damn i have way too much free time at work!!! but now that i know you've worked in shipyards then absolutely maine is a better choice---Bath Iron Works is a huge employer in the town of bath--about 25 minutes north of portland right on coastal maine---that area has some of the most spectacular coastline in the world--besides inland maine has everything VT has-- covered bridges, rolling mountains, ski resorts, quaint towns, PLUS the ocean and better towns/opportunities-- good luck, you'll love it--i'm sitting at work right now listening to the foghorns on the coast--you cant do that in VT!!!! http://www.gdbiw.com/
