Hostels/Jobs in Portland Maine?

I am moving to Portland Maine on December 2. I will need to find a relatively cheap place to stay, like a cheap motel or hostel, and will need to find a job within a month of arriving, or ideally before I leave. Does anyone have any suggestions or answers? Thank you. I am moving from the San Francisco Bay Area.
