My fiance and I are relocating from California to Colorado... We wanted to live in the Boulder or Denver area ?
Can anyone recommend an area? We would like something with a night life, malls, and easy access to freeways... We also wanted to live in a house not in the main city... Suggestions?

- Lousiville, Longmont or Broomfield all have malls, freeway and toll way access and some sort of "night life"... mostly just bars, though. Without living in the main cities, there is not much in the way of a night life. You can try Lowry (in Denver, just east of the main city), Belmar (in Lakewood which is 10 miles west of Denver, though a pain to get to from Boulder) or Stapleton (again, east of Denver) -google search them, they all have feigned town centers with bars, shopping, and flats above the shops. There is also the Denver Tech Center area, which is all south of the 80202 via Interstate 25. If you move to Lone Tree or Highlands Ranch, you will have access to the light rail system (fast mass transit to Denver proper) as well as some malls and chain restaurants.
- If you want to go to Boulder look in the Gunbarrel area, there are some nice houses there and it's only about 10 minutes to downtown Boulder, you can even bike there. The bus service is pretty good, too. You don't really say if you're looking to buy or rent or what your budget is. That makes a big difference in where you'll end up. Boulder is much more expensive than Denver. Broomfield, Louisville and Longmont and Erie are also some nice suburbs around Boulder.
- Boulder is wonderful. They have a wide variety of nightlife, the malls in Boulder are more funky than big box but there are boring big box malls in Longmont or Broomfield. It is located right on the Boulder turnpike with easy access to most everywhere. There are lots of little subdivision communities around the downtown.
- We just moved to Boulder from Texas and love it! I guess if you want a more "city like" atmosphere..then Denver is a good choice, but if you want a good mixture of things.. i find that ere in boulder..someone mentioned Gunbarrel for homes..I agree. Good Luck!
- There are several towns near Boulder or Denver that are nice...Louisville, Longmont or Prospect, Erie, Lyons, Winchester, Broomfield. If you live in Erie, you can just get on I-25 to head to Denver. 36 goes from Denver to Boulder. Boulder's nightlife is on Pearl Street or near the university. Go to the Shag Lounge and Double Daughters in Denver.
- I would choose Denver
- Another one? Well i would actually recommend living in the city because you have more access to everything. Try Lowry it's really nice but expensiive, there you'll have access to the highways I-70 from quebec and the others are just a short drive away.
- I had the same dilema a few months ago. Everyone kept telling me Boulder was "weird". Now I know they meant that boulder has a lot of hippies that aren't as connected with fast paced city life as a more metro area like Denver. However, the Boulder area is closer to the mountains and I plan on moving into the actual mountains near Boulder next year myself. I ended up starting out in Broomfied which is right between the two so that I could find out what I liked the best. I really think it was the wisest decision because relying on other people's perception hasn't always worked out for me!
