- Although the answer above includes a very impressive list, most of the suggestions are not appropriate for someone with a job to offer in San Jose. (Some of the links are to sites far away. Do you REALLY want applicants from Canada and the UK?) One local resource that has free ads is this one: http://www.baywideweb.com/Bay-Area-Classifieds.html If that doesn't work for you, think some more about the kind of job and where likely applicants are going to see it. If you are looking for, say, domestic help, then free neighborhood newspapers are a good bet. If you have a professional job to offer, it makes sense to spend the money to advertise in the Mercury News or even in a San Francisco paper. Yes, it will cost some money, but getting the right people to apply is worth the investment. If an ad costs $100 for example, and the person works for two years, that's only $1 per week. But first check out the link above. Since it is free, it is worth a shot. Good luck!!
